Question:
Reading through the medical litterature, one wonders if there will ever be
such a thing as a "cure" for Erectile Dysfunction. I mean, for things to
work normally, there's a complex cascade of events that all must function
properly. There are *tons* of hormones, receptors, enzymes, genes,
geneexpressions, second messengers, neurotransmitters etc that all work
together to pruduce a normal sexual desire and erectile response. In
essence, it seems to be one of the absolutely most complex and advanced
systems in the human body. If one crucial detail fails, things don't work.
And there must be hundreds or even thousands of things that can go wrong.
What's even more frightening is that as of today, scientists are only in the
very first stages of actually finding out how all of this works together.
There are vast areas of unknown territory to explore; unknown receptors,
unknown hormones, unknown neurotransmitters; receptors for which no
corresponding chemical has been found etc.
So what do you all think? Will there ever be a complete picture of how the
libido and the erectile functioning works?
Also, as stated above, there are *tons* of things that *can* go wrong. But
is it likely that maybe, in real life, that there are only a few of these
things that actually are causing problems for humans as of now. I mean, just
because things *can* go wrong, doesn't mean that they have done that in any
human yet. So maybe when the picture gets more complete, we will find that
there are maybe only 4 or 5 (out of the many, many more possible)
biochemical reasons for erectile dysfunction that actually occur in humans?
If so they will probably be targettable for future drugs. If not, people who
get low libido or erectile dysfunction for a reason that is not yet known
are pretty much doomed to a non-curable sexual dysfunction, as there will
not be resources enough to investigate all of the possible biochemical
sources of error...
Please tell me what you think....
Answer:
While we are pondering............
Another thought..........about contaminating the gene pool.
Women that have been giving birth that had to have Cesearian births would
otherwise have died in child birth years ago and today their female children
may also have the same genetic problems making the quantity of women
increase that MUST now have that assistance with child birth.
How dos this relate............Well if those that couldn't get erections are
now able to reproduce, their male heirs may have the same problem and as
couples chose partners randomly perhaps with the same gene problem, there
will be more males with genetic problems that makes itself know in their
lives.
Will there be a greater incidence of ED in males in the future? I guess ED
is natural in later life but those in effected in earlier years may
perpetuate that.
I don't think I said that very well but it is a thought.
